About the group
The DWP group campaigns hard for members and works tirelessly to improve the pay, terms and conditions and job security through our negotiations with DWP management, ministers and the government.
PCS funds these pages because they are vital for communicating to DWP members, who we hope will increasingly use, contribute to and enjoy this site and use it as an important resource.

Benefit cap ruled unlawful
PCS welcomes the ruling of the high court judge Mr Justice Collins that the government's welfare cap was 'unlawful' and that it does 'real damage' to single parents and 'exacerbates poverty'. The cap limits the total amount paid to households in London to £23,000 and £20,000 elsewhere.
PCS DWP group pPresident Fran Heathcote said "With 3.7 million children living in poverty, there can be no justification for the continuation of this welfare cap. We call for an end to government policies designed to hurt the poorest in society. We call for a supportive social security system and fair rates of benefits that allow people to live in dignity."
