#YWweek2013

Our Young Workers' Week runs from 25 November to 1 December.

The focus is on the recruitment, organising and development of young people into the trade union movement.

All branches are encouraged to get involved and do some activity to highlight issues affecting young members and to target recruiting and organising them in your workplace.

It is more important than ever to be targeting young people to join a union and get active, not just to increase membership density but also to train up the next layer of union organisers.

Recruit a young member

Your branch can:

  • Target recruitment of young people by talking them and asking them to join the union
  • Invite young people to your branch meeting as an observer and ask them to become a young members' rep
  • Hold a stall in your workplace to talk to young members
  • Organise a workplace meeting focusing on issues affecting young members
  • Download the 'speech bubble' under YW week resources on the right-hand side of this page. Encourage members to fill one in and send us your photos of them holding the signs to youngmembers@pcs.org.uk

Send pictures and reports of your activity to youngmembers@pcs.org.uk

Any PCS member aged 27 and under can join the network.

Sign up to the network or contact youngmembers@pcs.org.uk

The young members network has successfully built up a network of young members in different workplaces and regions and we are continuing to build links with other trade unions and youth organisations.
