HP Strike action suspended

PCS's negotiating committee met HP management with ACAS on Thursday 25 March to discuss resolution of the current dispute.

Significant progress was made on key issues, but it was not possible in the time to finalise an agreement in sufficient detail to put to members.

Further discussions have been arranged for Tuesday 30 March to produce further details on the issues of Standard members opting into collective bargaining for staff dedicated to supporting the DWP contract, and a pay settlement for both Image and Standard terms members who are part of this collective bargaining unit, including addressing low pay.

Other details include: an overarching protocol for job security across central government accounts; future recognition for Standard terms members on other government contracts; and confirmation that normal practices and procedures will resume that existed prior to the commencement of the industrial action.

Further discussions will also take place in relation to GM members.

The negotiating committee feel that there would be no tactical advantage to taking action on 29 and 30th March, or continuing the current action short of a strike.

"The National Disputes Committee has agreed that the current action short of a strike and strike action planned for 29th and 30th March has been suspended pending further talks at ACAS on 30th March."

It is our aim to have a final agreement from the discussions on 30 March, so that members can consider whether or not action on 6 and 7 April should go ahead.
