PCS members working on the EDS SPVA Glasgow contract for Kelly Services today have won the right to bargain with their employer as a trade union following a hard won campaign for trade union recognition rights.
They follow in the footsteps of the landmark win by Adecco staff working on the BCMS contract in Workington, Cumbria.
This has been a hard won campaign fought by PCS members at Kelly Services with the strong support of the local EDS Scotland branch. Kevan Smith, branch secretary and Ian Fitzpatrick, PCS EDS group president were instrumental in supporting members in this historic win.
The next step is for Kelly Services to sit down with PCS and create a collective bargaining agreement that sets out how negotiations on matters of pay, hours of work, holidays and other matters will occur.
We will keep you informed of progress on this. In the meantime, please contact Alen Clifford at alen@pcs.org.uk for details on the decision, passed today by the governments' central arbitration committee.
If you have a group of agency workers in your area that you would like to work with to get organised and gain rights to negotiate with the employer, please contact Alen Clifford, PCS commercial sector organiser on 0207 801 2667 or at alen@pcs.org.uk
