Strike Action on 6th and 7th April suspended

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services Dispute Update

1st April 2010

Strike Action on 6th and 7th April suspended
Heads of Agreement published

A series of members meetings held yesterday and today across HP Enterprise Services have voted overwhelmingly to suspend the planned strike action for Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th April following the Heads of Agreement reached at ACAS on Tuesday. The Head of Agreement is published and confirms:

·         All standard PCS members across the DWP HP account will be able to opt in to collective bargaining. This is the first time that our union has won negotiating rights for HP staff outside image.
·         In January 2011 PCS and HP will agree a way to facilitate full recognition and collective bargaining across all of HP’s central government contracts.
·         We have jointly committed to sign an agreement on job security and avoidance of compulsory redundancy for all PCS members on all of HP’s central government contracts.
·         A significantly improved pay award is being negotiated after HP agreed to remove strings attached to the previous offer. The lowest paid workers on the contract will receive a significant improvement in their pay.

Further work will now take place at ACAS to agree the size of the bargaining unit and to agree the fairest possible allocation of the pay award. There are guaranteed minimum and maximum amounts and we have jointly agreed that addressing low pay is the top priority.

Our dispute is currently suspended therefore but can only be ended by members voting in a ballot to accept a revised offer. We expect to ballot members on an offer in May.
