PCS is our voice in the workplace at Balfour Beatty Workplace. By being involved in our union we have the opportunity together to resolve issues through discussion and negotiation. By doing this as a group we are more effective than as individuals.

Company Profile

Balfour Beatty WorkPlace (BBW) or Haden Building Management Limited as it was called prior to 2008 is part of Balfour Beatty PLC. They are the fifteenth largest construction company in the world with revenue of £10.3 billion and 30,000 employees worldwide.

The PCS branch represents members working on two main contracts:

Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)

Members provide office support to DWP offices across Great Britain. The roles carried out include switchboard, typing, post opening, stationery and reprographics. More than 1,900 staff are employed at over 500 separate locations. 

Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA)

Members work as wardens, receptionists, porters, reprographics and security guards covering over 250 locations across northern London. More than 800 staff work on this contract.
Members are represented at Balfour Beatty Workplace by workplace representatives.
These representatives are colleagues who work at Balfour Beatty Workplace, like you but have received full training to assist them in representing the interests of their colleagues in negotiations with the company.
Our network of experienced workplace representatives is supported by Jim Knotts jimk@pcs.org.uk he is the full-time officer with responsibility for Balfour Beatty Workplace.
