Pay

extend our pay bargaining remit
introduce and support agreed pay structures

  • support and improve pay progression

Jobs

  • maximise PCS members employability
  • oppose compulsory redundancies
  • resist ‘off-shoring’

Work

  • promote skills development/training
  • demand ‘respect’ at work for our members
  • protect PCS members well-being

Learning Agenda

The priority targets are:

  • establish a network of ULR’s in Working Links, Fujitsu, Siemens, EDS and Capgemini
  • secure Learning Agreements with the above employers

Diversity

  • demand Equal Pay
  • support PCS Equality/Diversity policy

General

  • secure and utilise the ‘Public Service Concordat’

Commercial Sector Review

We will work towards implementing the recommendations contained in the Commercial Sector Review Initial Report (NEC.88/42/08) including:

  • Pilot the ‘Organisational Bridge’
  • Rationalise the Commercial Sector Branch structure
  • Target membership/organisational growth
  • Greater membership consultation
  • Enhance campaigning capacity
  • Improve communications, especially ‘e’ communications
  • Review of role of ‘Sector’ associations
  • Develop an improved training programme for representatives

Report to the NEC towards the end of 2008

Organising

The CS Association and the NEC has agreed that PCS will target membership growth and improved/expanded union recognition in:

  • The ICT industry, initially EDS & Capgemini

Plus that the Commercial Sector works with O&LS and PCS Regions to:

  • Improve the provision of data on membership density

Resource Planning & Allocation

The SNO will monitor the effective use of staffing resources in consultation with the DGS and Personnel Director.

Team Development

The plan will be discussed at monthly team meetings and be reviewed quarterly by the National Officer.

The SNO and Officer manager will incorporate new grades and policies in the Commercial Sector to support the overarching objective.

The Commercial Sector Team will hold a special team development day to focus on plan implementation and working practice in the summer of 2008.

A programme of one to one meetings is in place and will be used to support the development of individuals and the implementation of this plan
