Members have voted to accept Fujitsu’s offer in settlement of our national dispute. The results of the ballot are as follows:-
Eligible Voters 851
Votes Cast 273
To Accept 225
To Reject 47
Spoilt 1
We have written to the company to advise them of the result but also to remind them that we need to see the company respond positively on behalf of those of our members outside of the HMRC CBU who have yet to receive any review for 2009. Our talks with the company towards this commenced on Monday and we will be meeting company representatives again very soon.
The result now means that we can focus on the future. We can now make a collective bargaining unit for all PCS members a reality. We can at last begin to bargain on behalf of all our members for a fairer pay system.
The agreement requires Fujitsu and PCS to work together over the next 2/3 months to determine a new bargaining structure that will deliver on pay progression. PCS is determined that our members will get fair pay and will be able to see that they get fair pay.
We want to thank all our members for your fantastic support over these difficult last months. It is only through your support and determination that we have been able to secure the agreements we have.
That support and determination will equally be needed in the coming months but we start 2010 in a stronger position than 2009 and with a positive agenda to improve the working life of Fujitsu employees.
You can help this by talking to anyone you know who is not a member of PCS. You now have the solid evidence of the difference a modern trade union makes to workers in the 21 century.
Let’s build a union that can respond to the challenges of the coming years. Let’s make PCS the natural choice of IT workers in the government sector.
