PCS ULR’s recognised by Fujitsu

PCS union learning representatives (ULR's) have been awarded bronze awards by Fujitsu in recognition of the contribution they have made to the learning agenda at the HMRC site in Netherton.

Fujitsu issues rewards to employees that have achieved over and above their usual role.

Ellen Williams and Denise O’Brien received their awards having been instrumental in establishing and delivering a comprehensive working programme allowing fellow workers to undertake learning in English, Maths, Spanish and other subjects including pension awareness and IT skills.

Expressing her delight in the awards PCS Netherton branch secretary Karen Ashdown says “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ellen and Denise for all their hard work in making Netherton a model for other learning projects. I know their efforts and also the earlier contributions of Caroline Turner are greatly appreciated by all those that have taken part and have set the foundations for many more to gain the benefits of learning at work.”

Commercial sector learning co-ordinator Ann Ainsworth comments “This is real proof of the value attached to the work done by ULR’s. Fujitsu understands the benefits of learning and the value this gives back to the company. We hope to build on the excellent work at Netherton and expand our programme across the Government Business Unit starting with the awareness training for new ULR’s sponsored by the company.”
