The results of the DfT Staff Survey have now been published.
They confirm what PCS has been saying for years. Fewer than half the staff who responded believe that senior management across the Department are effective leaders and only a fifth believe that change is either well managed or ever improves things. Not many of you think you are well paid or receive a satisfactory "Total reward package". Most worrying, only half of you think that the survey results will change anything.
Nine out of ten of you are interested in your work and the scores for personal accomplishment are high also, proving that the public sector ethic is alive and well across the Department. That willingness and enthusiasm needs to be reciprocated by senior management across the Department. PCS will be seeking meetings with management across DfT in the coming weeks to see what action they intend to take. If there are things that you would like to see changed or done differently then let us know either by e-mail to mailbox.pcs@dft.gsi.gov.uk or by contacting your local PCS rep.
The results for the individual parts of DfT (the agencies and DfT(C)) should be out in a few days.
