Thursday 26 November is PCS ‘No Pay Day’ for DVLA staff. As we are paid around 10% less than the best rates in DfT we are over one month short of a full year’s pay in comparison with others doing a similar job. This means that from that day up until the end of 2009 we will, in effect be working for nothing!
An employment tribunal is being asked to rule on whether Executive Officers in DVLA can take equal pay claims to bring them up to the level of their counterparts in the Driving Standards Agency. PCS has assembled a strong legal team to support these claims. If successful the claims would have a knock – on effect for all grades, so we all stand to benefit.
Hundreds of members in DVLA have already registered their claims but we are asking all executive officer PCS members, male or female, in DVLA to register. You can do that by completing a form available on this website. If you are not already a PCS member then we encourage you to join and fill in a claim form.
Remember, to fully benefit from a successful outcome you need to register interest as an individual
You should by now have received a ‘pop- up’ card specially produced for the day. Display it on your desk with pride and leave it there until we win. If you haven’t received one, ask your PCS floor rep.
If you are not a PCS member, join without delay to link up with the 75% of your colleagues who have already done so.
If you are an EO, register your equal pay claim now. You have nothing to lose and potentially a great deal to gain.
Remember that this is your union - your participation is needed to win.
