4 November 2009
The DWP Group Executive Committee has agreed a training event and seminar for young members throughout the DWP and CMEC as a part of the Young Members Advisory Committee’s Organising Plan.
The GEC fully supports the activity of Young Members Advisory Committee and believes that building a strong and healthy young members network with well trained reps is a priority. To meet this aim a specific training course has been developed most of those attending.
This course covers two days on 26th and 27th November, but will only require one overnight for those outside of reasonable travel.
DATES – 26th – 27th November
VENUE – Sachas Hotel, Manchester
TIME – Registration from 1pm on 26th, training from 1.30pm to 5pm, and 9.30am to 3pm on 27th.
This course covers issues such as Public Speaking, Organising and Recruitment, Communicating and Campaigning.
This course is different to last year’s training forum as it is more advanced and will build on the skills you already have. All active young members age 27 or under or those thinking of becoming more active are welcome to attend.
Applications are particularly welcome from Young Members who are black, women, LGBT or disabled who are unrepresented at PCS events.
The closing date for applications is by no later than 12.00 noon, 13th November 2009.
All expenses travel and subsistence costs will be met by the PCS Group Office. Hotel costs will be paid centrally, so only residential subsistence applies. Travel tickets can be ordered through travel-leads and Baxter Hoare. Time off is available for this course under paragraphs 3.39, 3.40 and 3.41 of the DWP Employee Relations Framework. All successful applicants will be sent an acceptance form. However, you should apply for time off as soon as you apply for the course to avoid any problems.
