Debt Transformation Programme

30 Jan 2012

Background Debt Management have consulted the Shared Services Trade Union Side about the impact of their Debt Transformation plans. The transformation is a direct result of the introduction of the revised Overpayment, Decision, Calculation and Appeals arrangements. The effect of these new arrangements will be to progressively remove work from Client Referral Centres (CRC's) and place it in Contact Centre Directorate sites. Management have told us this will mean that by March 2013 the current CRC network is non-viable. Management have been exploring options across DWP, and they have identified new work for the majority of staff.

Network Services Review

26 Jan 2012

Introduction The DWP Corporate Transformation has created a new Network Services Directorate. We were led to believe that this new directorate would incorporate all existing customer related telephony activity across the department. We had been led to believe that the former Jobcentre Plus Contact Centre Directorate would join with the contact centres in Pension Centres and DCS to form the new Network Services Directorate as one organisation with a single line management chain. This however has not happened yet and it is not clear when, or if, it will. This has caused some confusion as to who will be covered by the outcomes of the Network Services review.
DWP Mersey District - Dispute Over Staffing and Compulsory Transfers

25 Jan 2012

Further to the circular issued prior to Christmas, further talks have taken place to try and resolve this issue, but sadly they have not succeeded. Unfortunately because of some difficulties over the balloting process, we have had to re-run the ballot and it will commence on 27 January and end on 10 February. Whilst this is regretted, it does give us the opportunity to re-double our effort to ensure we have an overwhelming vote in favour of industrial action.
