Members:

  • Members will be decided at the regional committee meeting on Friday, 2 September, 2011

Role of the sub-committee

Terms of reference for the sub–committee were discussed and agreed on 9 April, 2008 to recommend as follows:

  • Agreed that the sub-committee should meet between every regional committee, i.e. every three months and ad hoc as necessity dictates
  • To assist the national union to deliver the desired outcomes of any national campaign in the eastern region
  • To assist the delivery of any group or national branch campaign activity in the eastern region
  • Assist any branch specific campaigning
  • To develop and support the political lobbying of PCS in the eastern region, i.e. Parliamentary lobbies, lobbying PPC’s and PMEP’s, and via Make Your Vote Count in local councils
  • To develop the union’s relationship with the mass media in the eastern region
  • Build a network of key PCS regional spokespeople, e.g. DWP related issues. (Committee recommends that we seek to provide campaigning/media training for those reps that require it.)
  • Make full use of all available resources of the regional office to communicate the campaigning aims of the union to our members, e.g. use of the website, Eastern Angles, circular, e-mail and staff
  • Utilise the expertise of the national campaigns officers allocated to the region
  • Support and develop the union’s anti-fascist work throughout the region
  • Facilitate the building of solidarity and formal and informal links with other organised workers via their trade unions and TUC structures and local community campaign groups.
