Equality Officers

PCS Equality Officers work proactively with members to promote equality and tackle discrimination in the workplace.

PCS Equality Officers provide advice and support to employees on all equalities issues affecting members. They will formulate part of the negotiations with employers to introduce, or improve, policies in workplaces that uphold the principles and rights of all staff in relation to fair treatment, non discrimination and achieving workplaces that are free of harassment.

Employers have legal duties to ensure that potential and existing staff are not subject to unlawful discrimination in the workplace. Equality Officers can work with employers to achieve the aims of the union in terms of their members, and the needs of the employer in terms of the law, and good business practice.
