PCS represents civil servants across all government departments, non departmental public bodies and outsourced workers in the commercial sector.
Proud aims to support all LGBT members in the workplace and offer support and training to help those members tackle any problems they may face linked to their sexuality and trans status.
PCS as a union is firmly committed to equality and diversity and actively campaigns on behalf of members in minority groups and communities, including LGBT people. PCS Proud has a national committee organising in every region/county of the UK.
A survey conducted by Proud found that 44% of LGBT members had suffered discrimination in the workplace. The findings concurred with a similar TUC survey.
Proud organises regional two day courses for reps and members which deals with discrimination and harassment in the workplace on the grounds of sexuality and trans status.
Two courses are also run exclusively for LGBT members aimed at building confidence and teaching LGBT members how to raise issues through trade union structures.
As well as organising these events, Proud also holds an annual LGBT seminar.
In addition, Proud holds a women only course. Proud is working towards organising courses exclusively for LGBT members who are trans, black or disabled.
All lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans individuals and those who support Proud are encouraged to join.
