In PCS, organising is about active members at all levels of the union, where we campaign on issues that members care about, and where activists reflect the diversity of the workers they support and represent. This principle runs throughout the union structure.
It is just as important to organise a good branch meeting as it is a dispute, because inevitably the one leads to another; without well organised branches, it is impossible for the national union to deliver a well organised campaign and it’s bargaining ability diminishes if the employer doesn’t recognise that we can deliver for our members when it’s needed.
In the Midlands, we organise ourselves along the principles of the national organising strategy through our branch and group structures, the regional committee, the town committees, and our equality groups.
Education and learning forms the backbone of our agenda, helping build and strengthen our network of reps and activists through a comprehensive programme of courses.
