Annex D - AGM calling circular

The annual general meeting of the branch will be held on:

Tuesday 19 February at 3.00pm in the Churchill conference room

Refreshments. To be sure of numbers we would ask all members to complete and return the tear off slip at the foot of this newsletter by Tuesday 19th February.

Motions. Motions are required for the branch general meeting as follows:

  • On branch business for the branch AGM
  • On MOD group business for the MOD group conference
  • On national business for national conference

Nominations. Nominations (with the names of proposers and seconders) are required for branch, MOD group and national posts as set out on the next page. Motions and nominations must be sent to the Branch Secretary (Ian Clark) Waterloo Training Centre by 1700hrs, Monday 25th January. Please use the attached forms.

Eligibility. A person can be nominated for more than one post provided they are eligible. Members can propose or second themselves. Nominees for conference need not be committee members or representatives, nor does election to one of the committee posts preclude election as a delegate. However auditors cannot be BEC members or vice versa.

Equal opportunities. The union has an equal opportunities policy and therefore nominations must be made regardless of sex, race, ethnic or national origin, religion, colour, class, caring responsibilities, marital status, sexuality, disability, age or other status or personal characteristic.

If you have any special needs that make attending the AGM difficult then please let the branch secretary know in advance of the meeting.

Facility time. Under the facility time agreement you are allowed time off to attend this meeting as well as reasonable travelling time where necessary. We are writing to the heads of establishment for agreement.

Visitors and transport. Members attending the AGM from other sites must give their details to the secretary so that the entrance gate can be warned. Members from other sites are asked to club together, and we ask local representatives to co-ordinate transport arrangements from their site. Members providing their cars can claim mileage at union rates from the branch. Any member in difficulties over transport should contact the branch secretary Westham (94 21) 2601.
