Although the refurbishment of the Ensleigh site remains the preferred option for collocation of Centre TLB (CTLB) staff based in Bath, and the collocation at Ensleigh remains the planning assumption, due to a number of wide ranging reviews under way in the Department including a future Defence Review, it is possible that depending on the outcomes, enough room may become available to accommodate current CTLB Bath based staff in the new Neighbourhood 5 building in Abbeywood, Bristol rather than refurbishing a Bath site. The current plan is that these moves would take place in 2012 although this could be subject to change.
There has been no decision taken yet on whether to include Abbey Wood as a formal option in the project and the BAP will not be in a position to make such a decision for some months until the outcome of the planning round and other reviews becomes clearer.
Obviously this news only adds to the uncertainty that members are currently experiencing for the future of their jobs and the prospect of possible re locations. However at this stage a full study will need to be carried out and the merits and all the implications assessed before it can be put to the project board as a formal option.
Our union was not consulted on this latest option, although we have a place on the BAP board. We will therefore be seeking meaningful engagement on this and other options which affect members on the Bath and Abbey Wood sites, alongside formal consultation over any proposals likely to affect members. As soon as we have any more information, we will once again write to members.
