MGS communication

As you know PCS members working in the guard service are facing a series of attack on their terms and conditions as a result of PR09 spending cuts.

Our members have lost the ability to work overtime, which many rely on to make ends meet. Many members are not able to take meal breaks and have their working patterns changed at short notice.
PCS is responding to these threats – and others – and will be writing to you separately about this.
The purpose of this circular is to ask every activist to take the time to visit all guard rooms for two reasons:

  1. To explain to members what our union is doing to respond to the attack on their terms and conditions
  2. To allow all guards to meet their local PCS rep. At our recent MGS quarterly meeting a number of MGS members stated that they had never met their local PCS branch secretary and /or chair.

Our union would also point out that non-members should be asked to join; PCS is the only union with fully negotiating rights for MGS staff. Please take the time to meet our members in the guard service and allow our members to ‘put a face to the name’.
