LGBT member needed for equality committee

There is a vacant seat for a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) PCS member on the MOD group equality and diversity sub committee.

To be eligible, you need to be a PCS member working in the MOD, a related TLB or trading fund who has identified themselves as LGBT on our membership system, commix.

You don’t have to be an existing branch representative – this is open to all LGBT members – but you do have to be keen to get involved and have a commitment to achieving better equality across the MOD and in PCS itself.

What does it involve:

  • Help identify and address the issues affecting LGBT members in MOD.
  • Be a focal point for LGBT Members in MOD, for branch equality officers on LGBT issues and help develop the MOD LGBT members network.
  • Work on specific projects and campaigns as part of the equality and diversity team.
  • Network with LGBT members across PCS in PCS Proud.
  • Attending the equality and diversity sub committee which meets 4 times a year (travel and subsistence paid).
  • Co-option to the group executive. You may be asked to attend or report on activities to the PCS MOD group. It ain’t scary!
  • Enthusiasm and the will to make a difference!

Interested? Just send an email with EDSC as the subject line, and provide your name and day time phone number to pamwaithe@pcs.org.uk - dDeadline 14 July 2009.
