New procedure for election to the defence sector instructional officer group committee (IOGC)

The annual cycle of elections to the IOGC is about to commence. At the time of writing a decision is awaited from the NEC regarding the mechanism of voting in a new committee.

A further circular will be issued once clarity on the issue is forthcoming. Irrespective of this the following posts will be up for election:

  • Chairperson
  • Vice chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Equalities officer
  • Organiser
  • Two auditors
  • Eight other committee members*
  • Two Standing Orders Committee members

* The eight committee members will have responsibility for liaising with Defence College Whitey’s, IO’s outside the parameters of DTR and IO’s in the private sector.

Timetable

The following timetable is in place for the elections process:

  • Nominations to be received at PCS HQ from branches by noon Friday 25 September.
  • Acceptance of nominations and election statements to be received at PCS HQ by noon Friday 25 September.
  • Election results midday Wednesday 5 November.

Process

Branch meetings or BECs may nominate candidates to stand for election by completing the form IOE1 (please see your local branch rep for this form) and returning it to PCS by noon Friday 25 September.

Upon receipt of the nominations, HQ will issue form IOE2 for candidates to accept or decline their nomination and to complete their election address if necessary. This form must arrive at PCS HQ by noon Monday Friday 2 October.

Restrictions


Only current instructional officers who are PCS members or existing committee members may be nominated for election.
