Disability issues in the MOD

Howard Crosse is the GEC lead for disability related issues. This doesn't mean that Howard deals with all personal cases but he will happily advise any PCS rep or member who needs specialist advice.

How does Howard know any more about these issues than anyone else? Howard has trained as a departmental equality and diversity advisor, he is a TUC disability champion and a disabled person, so has some idea of the kind of issues that can arise.

Howard can be contacted on pcsrep2@cranwell.raf.mod.uk or by calling him on 01400 267596 or 07902 204481.

Howard is also a founding member of a PCS wide disability support group which is based out of the PCS office at Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. The committee meets twice a year to discuss the direction of the network and their next moves. Their last big event was a fringe meeting at last year's annual PCS conference.

They also produce a quarterly newsletter which is written in a pretty relaxed style (they are trying to rival Hello, although they can't run to photos of famous people or colour pictures!) What it is made up of instead is a mixture of articles from members of EDEN (all of whom identify themselves as disabled) and a peppering of articles from EDEN committee members talking about issues that they think might be of interested to those with an interest in disability.

We're working on getting the newsletter published here. In the meantime, you can get copies directly by dropping an email to the EDEN Secretary Carole Griffiths at Carole.Griffiths@landregistry.gsi.gov.uk
