Notice regarding travel delay to delegates in Scotland & Northern Ireland

Update 21 May 2010 - In view of the weather conditions and there being no forecast of volcanic ash disruptions to air travel today (21 May 2010), the coach on stand-by from Brighton travelling to Edinburgh and Glasgow has been cancelled.

Air travel to Conference could be severely disrupted by predicted volcanic ash clouds from Iceland over the weekend and the planned industrial action between Unite and British Airways from Tuesday 18th to Friday 21 May 2010.

In order to enable maximum attendance at Conference and avoid BA flight on strike days, the NEC has decided  that if a delegate is attending Conference, and has already booked air travel, between 18th to 22 May, delegates are invited to secure alternative transport to/from Brighton.

Delegates should ring Baxter Hoare on 020 7403 5566 who will assist with reorganising arrangements as soon as possible.  Dependent upon demand, coaches will be available for travelling from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Brighton on Sunday 16 and returning on Saturday 22 May.

Please register your preference for using these coaches and any requirement for accommodation with Baxter Hoare and further information will be issued including an update on the PCS website.  Accommodation claims will be adjusted accordingly.

This memo has been sent to all branch Secretaries in Scotland and Northern Ireland.  It has also been sent to every registered ADC delegate for whom we have an e-mail address.  Please do make other ADC delegates in your branch aware of this memo as they may not all have received it directly.
