NEC Elections 2010 – Branch Secretary’s Checklist

Key dates and checklist for Branches

  • Thursday, 4 March 5.00 pm - deadline for submission of branch nominations. Nominations received after this deadline shall not be accepted. See election regulations 7 to 13 and NEC election briefing EB/3/10. Send your completed nomination form to the General Secretary c/o Theresa Busby, PCS 160 Falcon Road, London SW11 2LN.  Mark your envelope clearly “NEC nominations”. You may fax your branch’s nomination form to 020 7801 2852. Please bear in mind that the fax machine will be very busy around the deadline. Your nominations may be delivered by hand, if you wish.
  • Thursday, 8 April - cut off date for new members to join PCS and get a vote in these elections (forms must be received by the PCS Membership Department no later than 8 April).
  • Thursday, 11 March 5.00pm - deadline for receipt of written acceptances of nomination from nominees, and for receipt of election addresses and accompanying photographs. See election regulations 14 to 22 and election briefings EB/4/10 and EB/5/10.
  • Thursday, 15 April - the Independent Scrutineers begins to despatch ballot papers to members.
  • Thursday, 6 May 12 noon - deadline for receipt of completed ballot papers. Votes received after this deadline shall not be counted.
  • Key documents - check that you have a copy of all the documents required by your branch.
  • Read the election regulations, NEC elections briefing EB/2/10.
  • Branch meetings - make sure you comply with the election regulation 7 about holding branch meetings.
  • Nominations - check the limitations and reservations that apply (see regulation 6). Nominations may be faxed to 020 7801 2852.
  • Members - as well as encouraging non-members to join, remind all members to:-
  1. Ensure they tell PCS of any changes to their ballot address. Members can update their ballot address via the membership section of the site (if you have not logged in before you will need to create a password), by e-mailing membership@pcs.org.uk or by ringing 020 7801 2670/2680.
  2. Look out for their ballot papers and vote in the ballot.
  3. Contact Membership on 020 7801 2670/2680 if they do not receive ballot papers by Monday 26 April 2010.
