Please do all you can to encourage members to participate, it is important that members are involved in making nominations and putting forward motions as well as voting in the elections. A timetable relating to the elections is also available.

To help branches there is a common closing date for the receipt of motions and nominations, Thursday, 4 March 2010 at 5.00pm.

This year’s Annual Delegate Conference (ADC) will begin on the morning of 19 May and close at lunchtime on 21 May. The venue is Brighton. Group conferences will be on the 18 May, with those that normally have more than 1 day beginning on the 17 May.

Conference representation is determined by the union’s rules, in particular supplementary rules (SR) 6.11 - 6.17.

The number of delegates a branch may send to 2010 ADC is determined by the number of fully paid-up members (excluding those 3 months or more in arrears with subscriptions) the branch had on 31 December 2009. We will be writing to branch secrataries separately about this.  Supplementary Rule 6.13 sets out the formula as below:

6.13 - Branches may send delegates to Delegate Conference on the following basis:

  • Up to 250 members: 1 Delegate
  • 251 – 500: 2 Delegates
  • 501 – 1000: 3 Delegates
  • 1001 – 1500: 4 Delegates
  • Plus one delegate for each complete additional 1000 members
