This course is designed for all PCS branch reps as an introduction to handling personal cases.
The aims of this course are to:

  • develop best practice
  • develop skills for handling day-to-day issues
  • understand, identify and use relevant procedures/agreements within their workplaces
  • build confidence in using in-house procedures
  • develop interviewing and negotiating skills
  • gather information around issues, find out where to go to find information, briefings, R4R etc
  • build upon process and skill development
  • find support structures
  • find out how to use PC1s/ET1s and time limits
  • to learn more about the employment law scheme


Activities include:

  • basic/early case management
  • managing expectations
  • putting the case to management
  • interviewing members
