The law says that assessments have to specifically cover risks to certain groups, in particular pregnant women and young people.

The course should help trade union health and safety representatives to:

  • identify health and safety issues
  • assess the need for action
  • understand symptoms of gender specific ill health caused by work
  • design, develop and implement strategies and plans
  • check the effectiveness of these strategies and plans
  • promote health, safety and welfare advances, and good practice
