PCS successful at the TUC communications awards

7 July 2010

PCS has continued its success at the TUC communications awards by receiving two honours at the 2010 ceremony.

The ‘Motions online’ function used by PCS branches to submit motions for our annual conference electronically was chosen as the winner in the ‘Best use of e-communications’ field.

The judges felt the system was ‘user friendly, simple and nicely laid out’ and praised the systems focus on usability and simplicity and its impact in helping to ‘increase member participation in the process of policy development of the union’.

PCS were also highly commended for our website.

The judges liked the sites ‘strong campaigning edge’ and ‘clear, concise and inviting content’. The site’s design was also applauded for being ‘clean and nicely spaced out’

Our other entries were also praised. In the ‘Best Magazine category’, View was described as 'engaging and readable' with 'almost all material leading members back to the union', while our article ‘The Recession Busters’ was described as ‘powerful stuff’ in the ‘Best feature’ field.

The judges also commended our entry in the ‘Best image’ field for its ‘good graphics and strikingly bold colours’ and our ‘Liverpool: The World in One City’ campaign received praise for its execution and ‘effective use of illustrations and graphics’.
