Large-scale joint walkouts support national campaign

28 May 2013

Tens of thousands of our members are joining regional strikes next week in DWP and HMRC.

DisputeAs part of our national campaign to defend pay, jobs and conditions, all PCS members in DWP, HMRC and Valuations Office Agency - more than of half of our membership - are taking part in rolling joint regional strike action from 3-7 June.

The first day of strike action will coincide with the pilot to close 13 HMRC enquiry centres in north east England and Yorkshire and Humberside. As well as causing major disruption to the employer, reps will also be promoting our welfare and tax justice campaigns and our alternative to public sector cuts.

Strike day rallies are being organised in major cities by our regional offices, while branches are planning to organise further local rallies. For the latest check regional web pages in your area.

All members in the following PCS regions are taking take a full day’s strike action on:

  • Monday, 3 June – North East, Yorkshire & Humberside including VOA Cumbria
  • Tuesday, 4 June – North West, Northern Ireland and HMRC Cumbria
  • Wednesday, 5 June – London and south east and Midlands
  • Thursday, 6 June – Wales and south west
  • Friday, 7 June – Scotland and eastern.

Demanding national negotiations

All our members are involved in a serious dispute with a management that has refused national negotiations with us about the pay freeze and the review of terms and conditions. Privatisation is a real threat to thousands of members.

We are demanding national negotiations and a fair settlement. But the government refuses to talk to us so we must fight to defend our pay, jobs and terms and conditions.

Support picket lines in areas where these members are based.
