PCS sponsors the event which commemorates the six farm labourers who were transported to Australia for forming a trade union.
The line-up at this year’s festival, being held on 20 July, includes Alabama 3, Congolese Latin fusion band Grupo Lokito and Seize the Day. Speakers will include Tony Benn, TUC general secretary Brendan Barber, director of Amnesty International UK Kate Allen, and Hashemiya Muhsin Hussein, of the General Federation of Iraqi Workers.
Sarah Hills, PCS youth delegate to south west TUC, said: “I’m always amazed by the amount of people that flock to the place to remember the martyrs. I always come away with a real sense of solidarity and find it really refreshing. I’d encourage anyone who’s not been before to come along and celebrate.”
If you’d like to join Sarah and activists from across the country, PCS is running free coaches from London – picking up at Clapham and Croydon – as well as Cornwall, Plymouth and Bristol.
