We asked all reps and members to do their bit to secure a strong 'yes' vote by making Wednesday this week national 'Bring your ballot to work day'.

Reps have been acting imaginatively to support the 'yes' vote.

Members who brought their ballot papers to work were rewarded with cakes and 'I've voted yes' stickers at HMRC Compass House in Southampton.

The HMRC Peterlee branch is running a bring your ballot in to work day tomorrow and on Thursday morning.

Branch secretary Lesley Bean says that members like the option of being able to vote at work and this has definitely boosted support in the ballot.

Reps at DWP Motherwell pension sentre have been using the forthcoming AGM on Friday to remind their 530 members to vote, says branch secretary John Campbell. Ballot papers will be collected with branch executive committee voting papers.

Met Police South West members work shifts so branch chair Stephen Gainsford is running members' meetings tonight to remind them to vote.

At HMRC Salford the branch is reminding members to vote today in the build-up for their AGM this Thursday, says branch health and safety officer, Martin Ayres.

Phone bank

Thousands of PCS members across the UK have had calls from the vote 'yes' phone bank since it opened on 16 February.

PCS reps and staff have spent evenings and weekends ringing members at home or on their mobiles to encourage them to vote 'yes' in the national ballot.

The phone bank is running tonight and again tomorrow, with the aim of ringing an additional 2,500 members on top of the 7,000 who have already been contacted.

We are also calling the largest 65 branches which account for 30% of the PCS membership.

So you can expect a call of encouragement to vote 'yes' and update you contact details.

This is a new initiative and is intended to get people involved in maximising the 'yes' vote in this crucial ballot.

If you want to take part contact you regional office or email organising@pcs.org.uk

The ballot runs until 4 March.
