I was very glad to receive your recent letter re MYVC 2010, I have worked closely with PCS for many years, indeed I served on the TUC General Council with Mark Serwortka.
As a former miner and local authority care worker, I have spent over 40 years in the public sector. I say that with pride. I have no time for those who ran down our services or who claim that somehow the public sector is a drag on our economy. Rather it is actually the engine of our society.
I am happy to support all of your pledges. In particular I am very happy to support your campaign to plug the UK tax gap. I have submitted your union’s recent report to Ed Miliband who is co-ordinating Labours Manifesto as part of the consultation.
I – and I guess you – have no doubts about the huge challenge facing all of us as we try and come to grips with the world we are in following the near collapse of the global economic system.
My view is that we must all work together to make a better world for us all and my genuine belief is that a good place to start would be for all politicians to pay attention to the men and women at the front line.
I look forward to supporting your union and its members for many years to come.
