Organising

The organising approach means that we are working towards building PCS within NOMS as a union which is founded on membership participation, which has high levels of union activity within workplaces, and which leads to more effective negotiation and representation because of our collective strength.

Organising therefore includes:

  • Members involved in identifying issues, finding solutions and dealing with problems,
  • Many more active, confident and trained representatives who are local to the workplace and properly representative of our membership,
  • Members who recruit because they feel good about PCS
  • Branches which establish policy and take decisions based on the views of members,
  • Trade unionism that has a political consciousness and is grounded in collective action.

Please take the time to read our 2010 Group Organising Strategy which highlights on how how we can improve the protection and promotion of members’ interests in NOMS through the organising approach.

I would also recommend you read the unions 2010 National Organising Strategy which details the important work the union is undertaking nationally.
