Regional Development Agencies group

The PCS Regional Development Agencies (RDA) group represents civil servants who work in all nine RDAs throughout the country.

Unlike big government departments, RDAs are relatively small non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) so it is important that the voice of staff in RDAs is heard. RDA map graphic

With this in mind, a group of RDA workplace reps got together at the PCS annual delegate conference in 2005, and formed the RDA co-ordinating committee.

The committee has a representative from each of the RDAs.

The committee meets every two months and holds its co-ordinating committee conference as part of the PCS annual delegate conference.

Who's who in the RDA group

Denis O'Connor is the elected lay chair of the RDA co-ordinating committee and Lynne Davies is the elected lay RDA national organiser.  Both were elected to serve in these positions for a 12-month period by the RDA Co-ordinating Committee at its annual conference.  This was held in Brighton on 18.5.2010.  For full contact details of the co-ordinating committee and PCS full time officials look at the RDA group contacts directory.

Each RDA now has its own separate home page in the RDA group contacts directory section.  If you have any information which you would like to see included in your site, please contact Lynne Davies, RDA national organiser.

Our goals

Participants at the 2010 RDA co-ordinating committee conference agreed its main priorities for the next 12-month period from May 2010 until May 2011.

The RDA Co-ordinating Committee will focus on achieving the following goals:

  • to substantially increase PCS membership density, aiming for over 50% throughout the RDAs
  • to continue to campaign for a co-ordinated approach to pay and terms and conditions of employment
  • to improve communications to our members through campaigning and lobbying activities; through the website, Newsbriefs and press releases/articles - celebrating our successes, quick wins and good news stories
  • to be recognised as the trade union for all RDAs.

The RDA Co-ordinating Committee will report on progress made at its meetings throughout the year.

Get involved

PCS is your union, and we always need people to get involved. Talk to your branch secretary and get involved in organising the union in your workplace.

Two members from each RDA are welcome to attend each of the RDA co-ordinating committee's meetings.

If you are a PCS member and are interested in coming along to a future meeting,  talk to your workplace rep, branch secretary or PCS full time official at the PCS regional office. You can find their contact details in the group contacts directory.
