A Woman’s place and Move On Up courses are designed to support women and black* workers respectively, with their development in the workplace and explore issues relating to themselves in their working lives. In line with PCS's national organising strategy, it encourages the participation of under-represented groups.
These are not designed to be management training but designed to increase confidence and skills should members want to progress into a leadership, supervisory or management role.
Both courses are accredited by the Open College Network.
View the course outlines for further details.
Courses are taught over six separate days with an element of self directed study in between each classroom based session. It is important you are able to meet this commitment.
Contact your regional office for more details. It is hoped both courses will be run in PCS across the country from Spring 2010.
There are no formal entry requirements or fees. It is also open to anyone working in the areas where PCS organises. To enrol please fill out the application form
Applicants should request time off to attend the course from their line manager. It should be viewed as part of a person’s personal development plan and the employer should meet travel and subsistence costs.
If there are any difficulties around this, please contact your local PCS rep or PCS learning rep.
