What do learning reps do?

"I love getting people involved with learning and giving them opportunities. It really is the best thing, encouraging people who might not have done anything much since they left school to get back into it." Helen Mamwell-Holme, branch training and union learning rep co-ordinator, North West and central Lancashire Revenue and Customs branch.

A union learning rep is a trained union member who promotes learning in her/his workplace.

Union learning reps are involved in three main areas of activity:

  • promoting learning among union members in the workplace
  • working with the union
  • raising learning issues with your employer

A full description of the role is on the union learning reps handbook pages.
