All PCS members, their partners and dependent children have access to the union's free personal injury service.
Types of claims handled:
Personal injury claims have a time limit of 3 years from the date of the accident or injury (but diseases like asbestosis can often be longer). So court proceedings must be started within that time.
In related employment cases, such as disability or discrimination, the time limit can be as little as 3 months. So don't delay. If you think you have a claim contact your branch representative immediately.
Where you are unable to return to work, the level of compensation that you will be entitled to will be calculated based upon the salary that you would have been paid until retirement.
Claims can also be made for a lost or reduced pension.
Last year the PCS personal injury compensation claim scheme recovered more than £5.5 million in compensation for members and their partners or dependent children.
Whether they received a few hundred pounds or several thousand pounds in compensation those PCS members discovered the advantages of seeking help under the auspices of our scheme.
The scheme operates at the discretion of the NEC and covers the member, his/her partner and any dependent children who are still in full time education.
In order to qualify under the scheme it is normally necessary to have been a member at the time of the accident or injury arising and to be in current membership or associate membership of PCS.
