Notice was posted last week advising members of a ballot to be held between 22 June and 10 July. This followed the group executive committee’s recommendation that members vote to reject the HMRC pay offer and to consider industrial action in support of a fair pay settlement in HMRC.
Members were advised that a series of regional meetings were to be organised across the country in the opening week of the ballot. These meetings have been arranged and details are set out below. Two meetings will be held at each venue – the first at 12.15pm, followed by a further meeting at 1.15pm.
It is not the intention that these regional meetings should take the place of any local meetings that your branch has arranged to discuss the pay offer. However, you are encouraged to attend the regional meeting. National speakers, as well as group officials, will be speaking at the meetings.
In view of the fact that the department will not offer any assistance in the organisation of local meetings, it is vital that you are given every opportunity to listen and discuss the importance of a positive vote in the pay ballot.
Regional meetings will be held at the following locations:
Wednesday Glasgow Jurys Inn Glasgow 24 June 2009 80 Jamaica Street
Glasgow G1 4QG
Thursday Cardiff City Hall 25 June 2009 Ferrier Hall
Cathays Park
