European Social Fund

PCS Scotland is delighted to announce our successful bid to Scottish Union Learning for Development Fund money to carry out our learning strategy in Scotland. We have also been awarded a notional amount through the Learning Fund to deliver workplace learning.

The Development Fund and the Learning Fund are funded by the Scottish Government and European Social Fund. This funding runs to 31 March 2012.

The key commitments of the PCS project are:

• Addressing the literacy and numeracy needs of our members by continuing our Skills for Life programme to ascertain literacy levels and ensure adequate provision
• Widening participation among groups currently under-represented in our union’s structures
• Enhancing the skills and employability of our members within the workplace
• Developing our union learning rep network.

Due to the level of cut backs in our funding received, PCS learning reps and branches need to prioritise learning opportunities accessed through the Learning Fund. Branch support for learning reps and members is vital in ensuring PCS members take control of their own learning and training pathway in this time of austerity.

Learning Reps should contact PCS learning organiser, Kevin McIver to discuss applications for workplace course provision  (kevin.mciver@pcs.org.uk, 07933 046 581)
