The report suggests jobs will go by natural wastage, but this is very unlikely when 100,000 jobs have already been cut right across the civil service, and the Tory/Lib Dem government are trying to cut redundancy payments by 2/3 to make it even cheaper to cut jobs in future.
Scottish Secretary Lynn Henderson said “Scottish Ministers have an opportunity to take a different approach in their budget in the autumn. The Independent Budget Review sees cuts as inevitable, and pretends there is no alternative.
PCS says collect around £120 billion of uncollected, avoided and evaded tax, cancel Trident and cut the use of highly expensive consultants in the civil service. This means we can keep a properly funded, properly resourced public sector to benefit both workers and the public in Scotland”.
