PCS Scotland - Anti privatisation forum

1 December 2009

Following the success of the national privatisation forum which was held in London earlier this year, the above event which will take place on Thursday 4 February 2010 in the Scottish Trade Union Centre, 333 Woodlands Road, Glasgow commencing at 10.00 am, with registration from 9.45 am onwards. A buffet lunch will be provided.

This forum has been called to focus on how we can respond to the increasing threat of privatisation and how we can equip reps with information to assist in campaigning against privatisation.

All the main parties are either vying with each other over who can deliver the most savage cuts or are seeking to present cuts as an investment. One method of delivering cuts will be the mass sell-off of public assets and organisations. The first stage of the threat to public bodies is not always outright privatisation, though that often follows.

In this context, it is the intention of PCS to provide a forum for representatives and activists to consider and debate the wider politics and ideology of privatisation, as well as learn from specific campaigns

All branches of PCS in Scotland are entitled to send up to 5 delegates to attend although, with accommodation limitations, this will be on a first come first served basis.
