PCS in the south west

6334 - South West 4.6.13

The south west office serves the 18,000 PCS members who live and work in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Bristol.

The main aims of the office can be summarised as follows:

  • Assisting branches in the South West in recruitment and organising issues
  • Campaigning on national and local issues
  • Organising trade union education in the region
  • Playing a full role within the south west TUC

South West TUC
At the SWTUC 2013 conference Richard Capps (DWP regional organiser, PCS SW regional committee member) was re-elected as chair, Catherine Craig on the executive and Roger Thomas and Mandy Priest the additional two delegates on the council. 
 
The PCS motion on facility time was carried unanimously, directing the SWTUC to publicise its opposition to the attacks, seek commitments from MPs within the region to oppose the attacks and to support proper negotiated settlements with unions over facility time, to circulate information and seek support from all its affiliated trade unions.
