Congratulations to PCS members in Wales on another successful strike day!

25 March 2010

PCS members across Wales once again gave solid support to the union's national strike action yesterday (Wednesday, 24th March).

Rising to the challenge of a third national stoppage in defence of redundancy rights, members ensured that job centres, tax offices, law courts, offices of the Welsh Assembly Government, the Identity & Passport Service and many others were disrupted by our action.

Once again, Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru members of the National Assembly for Wales offered their solidarity, respecting our picket-line by staying away from the Assembly's plenary session. As the Chancellor rose to deliver his Budget in Parliament, almost 100 PCS members staged a noisy and colourful protest on the steps of the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, which was addressed by assistant general secretary, Chris Baugh, and Leanne Wood AM, chair of our Assembly cross-party group.

There was good coverage of the issues raised by our dispute on the ITV early evening news, incorporating interviews with PCS reps, Roger Langley (DWP Swansea Pension Centre) and Liz Evans (Land Registry). The item can be seen on the ITV website.
