This Saturday, 19th March, there will be a rally in Milford Haven in opposition to government plans to close the town's coastguard station. PCS members, and anyone concerned about defending the public sector and protecting public safety, are encouraged to go along to support the event and thereby send a message to the government in opposition to their planned cuts to the coastguard.

The government announced in December plans to sell off the Department for Transport Shared Service Centre in Swansea by late 2012. The SSC employs 260 staff and provides back office services like finance, human resources and payroll facilities for the DfT centrally and some of its agencies: the DVLA, DSA, VCA and Highways Agency.
Successful Cardiff demo rejects Con-Dem cuts

Thanks to the hundreds of PCS members who attended Saturday's march and rally in Cardiff against the government cuts, helping to make the event such a fantastic success. PCS reps from the Driving Standards Agency and Companies House in Cardiff - both threatened with immediate job cuts - led the march, along with workers from Remploy, and many more PCS members followed further behind, several of them proudly carrying branch banners.
