Young Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) who work in the Yorkshire and the Humber region are holding a series of events during young trade unionist week to highlight the concerns of young members and to further the aims of the PCS young members’ charter.
The PCS young members charter calls for an end to the discriminatory lower minimum wage rates for employees under 22, fair and equal pensions across the private and public sectors and opposition to tuition fees, privatisation and council house reductions.
We will also be focusing on why young people should campaign against pay rises being capped at 2% and support the PCS national campaign for no one to receive less than £8 per hour and for pay rises for all those currently earning above £8 an hour to at least match RPI inflation.
The Young Members Network supports all workers campaigning against poverty wages and below inflation pay rises and calls for solidarity from all workers within the area.
The events will be held as in the following offices:
Monday 15 September 2008: Hull Oriel House and Brittania House DWP
Tuesday 16 September 2008: Northallerton RPA, Government Buildings
Crosby Rd, Northallerton, DL6 1AD
Thursday 18 September 2008: Bradford Contact Centre, No 1 The
Interchange, 5 Nelson Street, Bradford, BD1 5AX.
