Make Your Vote Count

The make your vote count (MYVC) campaign is an essential part of our national civil service and NDPB dispute and aims to involve as many PCS members and potential members as possible.    The intention is to increase pressure on the employer to settle our dispute and to increase the coverage of issues facing our members.

The responses of candidates to questions from PCS members ahead of the May 1st 2008 local elections can be found here

The MYVC work is not just done around the elections, but should be part of campaigning done by branches throughout the year.

The national pages for the campaign can be found here where a new campaign pack is available.

Anti Fascism campaigning

Stop far right and fascist organisations getting a foothold in local politics. Far right organisations are standing candidates in local elections across the country and hope to take advantage of low voter turnout to get elected. Far right candidates are racist and fascist, not respectable politicians. They don't believe in public services or trade unions. You are urged to work with 'Unite against Fascism' to make campaigns more effective locally - their website can be found at http://www.uaf.org.uk/

If you would like to get involved in campaigning against Far Right groups in Y&H then please contact the Leeds Office by emailing leeds@pcs.org.uk

Young Members

The Yorkshire & Humber Young Members network was launched in October 2005 and has given young members in the region a platform to discuss, plan and campaign around issues specifically affecting them.   The network has gone from strength to strength and members have had the opportunity to get involved in both local and national campaigns; and also going into schools and colleges to speak to students about the benefits of joining a trade union.

There are regular meetings which are open to all young members in the region and are a good opportunity to discuss and campaign around national and regional issues specifically affecting young members.

Still undecided?  Just come along and observe or tell us what's going on in your branch and how we can help you.    New members always welcome.

If you would like to attend then please contact Mark Chisman, chair

Other Equality Networks

Other networks in the region include Black Members, Disability and Proud.   These all meet regularly and feed into the regional committee.   If you would like more details then please contact Juanita Charles.   Email: juanita@pcs.org.uk
