Lobby your mps on the CSCS

CSCS Indicative Parliamentary Lobby and MPs Surgeries

Now that branches have organized/are organizing activity around the ballot, we need to start looking to the next stage of the campaign. As part of that we are looking to lobby MPs in their constituencies, obviously following an anticipated successful ballot on 25th February.

MPs Surgeries

It has been agreed by the NEC that regional offices organize members lobbying/visiting MPs surgeries during 27th/28th February and 6th/7th March. It is our aim to target every MP over these two weekends.

CSCS Parliamentary Indicative Lobby – Who can attend?

Following on from the surgeries, an indicative lobby will be held on Wednesday 3rd March. We are looking for 10-15 people per region (1 per constituency) to attend from different constituencies (targeting both those MPs who have and have not signed EDM 251).

As with all our campaigning we need to be strategic, so we would particularly like reps from the following constituencies to attend. Those marked with an * haven’t signed up to EDM 251.

• Ed Milliband – Doncaster North *
• Caroline Flint – Don Valley *
• Alan Johnson – Hull West & Hessle *
• Ed Balls – Normanton *
• Yvette Cooper – Pontefract & Castleford *
• William Hague – Richmond *
• Nick Clegg – Sheffield Hallam *
• Terry Rooney – Bradford North *
• Hilary Benn – Leeds Central *
• Linda Riordan – Halifax (signed EDM)

To find out which MPs have signed the EDM and MPs constituency details, see the contacts detail page.

On the day

Reps will need to book appointments with their MP, prior to the day. A pre-lobby briefing will be held in Committee Room 11, 1.30 – 2.30 pm, followed by a rolling brief in Room W4 at 3.00 – 4.00 pm.

In advance of the lobby

A letter for you to send to your MP in advance of the lobby is being prepared. If you wish to attend you will need to supply the following information to Juanita Charles or Mark Peyton at the PCS Leeds office, no later than Wednesday 24th February.

• Name
• Contact details including mobile phone
• Job title
• Workplace and workplace address
• Constituency and/or MP name
• Have you arranged an appointment with your MP?

Expenses

Reps are expected to make their own way to the lobby, but funding will be met centrally. Please contact the PCS Leeds office to arrange travel.

Finally

So far 142 MPs have signed up to EDM 251 nationally (including 13 MPs from our region). If your MP hasn’t signed up to the EDM, use this link to encourage them to do so.
