The Government has offered unions a new scheme for the civil service which raises the pension age, increases contribution rates and cuts pension payments - but it refuses to negotiate on these issues, only to talk about how to implement them.

A series of Pensions Briefings are being organized for week commencing 20 February 2012 to give an update on the NEC decisions.
In Yorkshire and the Humber we will be holding briefings as follows:
Leeds PCS Office- 3rd Floor, Town Centre House, Merrion Centre, Leeds LS2 8LY on Tuesday 21 February 2012 (10.30 am – 1pm or 2pm – 4.30pm)
Hull East Riding College, The Trade Union Studies Centre, 24-30 St James Street, Hull HU3 2DH on Wednesday 22 February 2012 (10.30 am -1pm)
York The Bar Convent, 17 Blossom Street, York, YO24 1AQ on Friday 24 February 2012 (10.30am – 1pm)
We are looking to get the widest possible spread of representatives attending the briefing, including Branch Officers and attendees of the previous Campaign Briefings.

Pensions briefings - NEC update
Eric Pickles is coming to Leeds for the annual Tory Party Local Government Conference. He and councillors from across the country will be discussing how best to slash our services and jobs. If you oppose cuts and privatisation, join the demonstration and counter-conference.

Meet at Woodhouse Moor for a rally and then march through the city centre to city square for a rally outside the Tory Conference at 12.30pm.
Unions representing one million civil servants, teachers, council staff and health workers will be invited to a meeting to discuss the next stage of the campaign against the government's cuts to pensions.
PCS members across the Yorkshire and Humber will be rightly appalled at George Osborne's proposals on regional pay, which will simply drive down wages and further depress already struggling local economies.
The Welfare Reform Bill is currently in the final stages of its way through Parliament, and Peers are debating its report stage in the House of Lords this week.
Please sign the e-petition via the link above for the government to stop and review the cuts to benefits and services which are falling disproportionately on disabled people, their carers and families.
Strikers in Yorkshire and Humber joined millions of public sector unions across the country in sending a clear message to the government that they will not stand by and allow their pensions to be stolen.
PCS members followed up the most successfull morning picketing in our history by joining lunchtime rallies in towns and cities across the region.
The action attracted record media attention and gave a lie to Cameron's claims that the day was a damp squib! In addition to the TUC organised rallies in Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford and Hull there were events in Huddersfield, Halifax, Rotherham, Barnsley, York, Doncaster and Wakefield.
