Over the next 50 years, the number of older persons in the world will grow from about 600 million to almost 2 billion. Today, one person in 10 is aged 60 or over – by 2050, this will be one person in five, and by 2150, one in three.
A think tank recommends state pensions at 70 by 2028 and 75 by 2035.

The government has once again missed its own deadline set for the end of March for the release of the social care green paper. It says it is due to the need for “greater consideration” of proposals.
